four seams and a voiceover

the baseball season is a peculiar thing.

when you're home, you want to relax but you end up running errands for three straight days, off days are rare indeed and road trip laundry always looms.   I've been juggling a bit of off the field stuff, with the second video and some personal appearances, and buffing up on the old gibson SG for a possible stage appearance in august.     while we're on the road to oakland and seattle I'm going to try and add the final touch with a tidy voiceover.

playing the red sox this weekend has proved to be a battle of mind and body for los rangers.   we got rain delayed 2 hours, hit a pair of homers in one inning against the other braided Phiten-necklace-sporting// gyro guy, and ended up losing.   Tonight we faced a knuckleball guy throwing so far below hitting speed he needs a personal catcher.  weird stuff.

while we were in houston I decided to go ahead and really shave a mohawk so now I've got about a 3 guard on the sides and full length in the middle, and hairspray is my only friend.  The funny thing about ridiculous hair is you kinda forget you have it until you catch a glimpse in the front door of Target and want to laugh at yourself.

thanks to everyone who has actually been able to carry a conversation with me in person, I apologize for looking like an mtv2 hipster.

also recently traded in my sedan so I could get my brother a new car- he's been rocking a slight hoopty-esque '86 benz and if I'm gonna be the vinny chase type I gotta have lil bro rolling in maintenance free style.   happy birthday!  that's the nice thing about making a bit more money is you can hook up your family too.  so...sidenote is anyone with a recommendation on the next sedan to complement my sportscar is welcome to hit me up.

pitching is weird sometimes too- tonight I just threw fastballs, and managed no damage.   when I entered the game, my favorite manny was already kicking it on second after a double and I have to constantly remind readers and fans that he's honestly the coolest guy in major league baseball.    he always looks like he's having fun, and he even laughs at himself when he gets out- tonight he did a full power-flop into 3rd after a triple- don't let the baggy uni fool you, he's legit.

our bullpen coach tells a story about manny totally spacing out and forgetting to cash a $750,000ish paycheck for 4 months while he was with the Indians.

so much glue he doesn't even notice when he gets paid...now that's ballin!

inspired by my antics against the steinbrenners, and feeling frisky, I thought I'd shoot manny being merlot a smile before I snuck a 4 seamer past doug mirabelli in the 7th to end the inning.   gotta try and have a little fun out on the stage, right?

tomorrow mr loeloe takes the stage for the rangers...

oh yeah and what was I doing at target?    inspired by the story of mauer and morneau from last years SI buddy feature that Kameron and I were just in, I finally gave in and tacked a king sized sheet over my 96" x 108"  window in my bedroom.   sleeping in has never felt so easy...

You must have a HUGE window to need a sheet that big. Why not just get curtains? Oh wait...you're a guy. Guys buy bedsheets not curtains. Ha ha.

While you're battling the Red Sox, your "little brothers" from OKC have been up here in Iowa having a battle of their own. I have coverage and photos in my blog if you're interested.

Best of luck to you and the roomie tomorrow. It's way past time for him to get his second win of the season.

Josh and Tom were sharing lots of Manny stories tonight during the game. I liked the one about him forgetting to show up for 3 out of 4 of his team pictures during high school.

CJ, you didn't even mention those loyal fans screaming down the sox fans...LOL well at least trying to hehehe
Watching for Kam to get his second win! and what's up with the other team bowling on the field???

There's a nice blog posting on C.J. at www.uweblogsports.blogspot.com. It purports starting C.J.

Hello, It's Elisa from the Phiten shop. Midori wanted to comment and since she doesn't have an MLB account she's using mine:

Here's Midori:

Hi CJ,

I just read your articles, it's fun to read what you write. I know you guys are coming to Seattle on June 1st. Are you coming to visit our Phiten shop? I would love to see you again. I've checking your ERA, and you are keeping promise. It's great and very happy for you. See you at Phiten Seattle Shop.

Take Care,

Midori

Are you sure that Manny Ramirez is the coolest guy in baseball? I would have to go with Nick Swisher. Manny would be among the top 10, but he is too lazy of a player. I am sorry that I will most likely miss you guys in Seattle. (There are some ******** promotions on Friday and Saturday so Safeco will be packed, so not much chance for any autographs.) I might show up on Sunday if I don't go to Tacoma for the Rainiers. I guess I'll see you guys next series in September.

So what's the deal with the crazy karate kid stretching? If you are looking for a boring sedan that gets decent gas milage always go Honda....then maybe your stretch etiquette could match the car. However, if you are looking for a sedan that smells of a 3 month old piece of bacon from a Wendy's burger that still hasn't begun to mold, there is a corrolla in the parking garage that has a for sale sign on it. Only redemable value of a corrolla is that the great "Gordo" owns one. Granted that may be more incentive to go with something else. By chance do you know a Cindy Jackson? (random question)

I finally had time to read y'alls article in the SI. My only question is...How in the world could you guys not know where Angel was for SEVERAL days??? For the love...she's not a hamster!! Oh, and ya can't ever go wrong with a Honda or a Toyota. Especially when it comes to gas mileage.

This has nothing to do with this blog, but I am just so proud of you that you just struck out Ichiro! Good job CJ!! You da man!!

CJ,

I know I can't ask you to incriminate yourself and name names ... but can give you the fans some type of a picture of how the ballplayers view the current coaching staff? We heard so much in the off-season about how Wash would improve the morale and the defense of this team, but it seems things have went the opposite direction. Mark Conner (for the ineffective starting pitching) and Rudy Jaramillo (for the ineffective hack for the fences approach) are constantly getting trashed, as well.

What is the current state of the clubhouse? Do you expect any personnel changes to be made before the end of the season?

CJ, Love the insite you give the fans--Manny MAY be the coolest---Who is the most respected player in the league?? My vote is for the guy the Rangers have at SS. All the Best
